An Infertility Story
This is the story of Terri who, after early miscarriages and diagnosis of premature menopause, goes on to egg donation and then on to a natural pregnancy. Miracles do happen so for the couples who are having a difficulty in starting a family, don’t lose hope for there is still our Lord God to help us along the way.
Her husband and Terri started trying to conceive even before they were married (she was 31) within 2 months she was pregnant but miscarried at 6 weeks with a blighted ovum. She fell pregnant again naturally 3 months later and once again miscarried at 7 weeks (there was even a heartbeat). Completely devastated, she approached a fertility specialist who ran the entire test and discovered her FSH level was 21.

A month later, it shot up to 40, the doctor then informed Terri that she was in premature menopause. At first she disagreed, as she was still having regular periods, although they had become a little scanty, but he advised Terri that there was nothing he could do aside from egg donation. She was lucky to find someone and within 3 months of diagnosis, she was pregnant with twins. To her horror, at 5 months, she lost one of her precious boys. She managed to carry his brother till 38 weeks with some pre-labor and lots of bed rest. Her beautiful son is 15 months old and thriving.
She breastfed for 4 months and had to go back to work. She fell pregnant naturally the following month. Again, she experienced miscarriage at 7 weeks. Her period had been quite regular but scanty. Her gynecologist mentioned a young patient of hers who had come to her diagnosed with POF (premature ovarian failure), with FSH levels in the 70’s and in full menopause (no period, hot flashes and confirmation of her condition by at least 3 doctors), but who had then gone for regular acupuncture and reflexology and within 2 months had a period and the following month she fell pregnant, she now has a healthy 2 year old daughter.
Needless to say, she contacted the patient, got the number of the homeopath and started her sessions. Terri is somewhat of a sceptic when it comes to alternative medicine, but she reckoned she had nothing to lose. She started in December and by the end of the month, had a much heavier period. Again in January, her period was heavier than it had been for ages. By March the 21st, she was pregnant. Three months of anxiety and they discovered she was going to have a boy. She was then 18 weeks pregnant and everything was looking great but she was still slightly anxious. The point is not to give up; quite honestly, she had resigned herself to only conceive with donated eggs or adoption.
