What We Can Expect to Happen Once Congress Nationalizes Health Care – Infertility Health Insurance

Are there any limits on what Congress is authorized to legislate?

Based upon what we are experiencing today in Obama’s America, the answer is clearly: no. In the name of “reform,” Congress is contemplating laws that are aimed squarely at punishing millions of Americans. Congress wants to fine and possibly imprison those who fail to buy health insurance and impose massive taxes on those who have “too much” health insurance. Employers who fail to provide health insurance will also be punished by the federal government.

What’s that you say? You don’t want health insurance? The iron fist of the federal government will ensure that you do — even going so far as enabling you to enroll at your local DMV. Perhaps you would prefer to use the wealth that you have bought from work to hold a larger home or to invest in your business. No, that is not permissible anymore. The government knows what you should be using your own money for and will heavenly you if you fail to comply with its laws, regulations, memorandums, and dictates.

The government will also get between you and your health insurance company by telling your health insurance company what your health insurance plot must cover, thus raising your premiums. Perhaps you want a bare-bones plot that will only be used in an emergency because you would prefer to pay obscene premiums. Sorry! The government has written rules that say that you must spend your hard-earned wealth on sex-change operations, infertility treatments, acupuncture, and yoga classes.

And it only gets worse. The government will then tell the insurance companies that it must cover individuals who are already sick. But, this violates the rules of what insurance is for. Insurance is intended to cover future risks. In this case, the patient is already sick — so the premiums are not used to hide some potential, future claim, but rather to pay present claims. To pay for the cost of such claims, insurance companies would then try to recoup their costs by charging healthier people even more, which will result in more people deciding to forego insurance as it becomes unaffordable. (That is why the politicians came up with the thought of taxing those who fail to recall health insurance! Brilliant. They are the cause of the higher trace, and then they tax you when you balk at the higher price.)

What is the hidden philosophical objective of all of this? I fail to see any ‘reform’ in this plot. The Democrats in DC are Statists. The Statist believes that the government should ultimately run all major economic institutions in American life. It is not simple, but, to propose a dramatic switch from a private-sector, capitalist-driven health care market to a government-run one. Thus, what the Statists are trying to do is to drive up health insurance costs further by passing laws that are not economically rational and imposing dracconian controls on the health care industry. The controls will ultimately fail as the prices surge and more Americans become uninsured. The Statists will then say that the reforms, which they will state were ‘free-market,’ have failed, but that further controls are needed, including the entire takeover of the health care system in order to lower costs.
